Did you know that Instagram and TikTok are using artificial intelligence to figure out if you're being truthful in your captions? If you're using all 30 hashtags on Instagram to try to boost your post, you may be doing more harm then good. On the contrary, using hashtags that line up with your photo and caption can go a long way toward helping grow your page. Here is everything you need to know:

  1. Instagram and TikTok scan your photos, videos, and audio, and will figure out if your captions and hashtags are not related to what's in your video
  2. If your post, captions, and hashtags don't line up, your post is less likely to be picked up by the algorithm
  3. Make sure you are using hashtags related to whatever is in your post, and avoid trying to tack onto unrelated hashtags. The algorithm will penalize you and followers of the non-related or trending hashtags will ignore your post as well, furthering the harm to your reach
  4. Up your caption game to include more context about what's in your post. This helps the algorithm place it in front of people who will care. Social media is becoming the next Google, so optimizing your posts to be searchable will help you tremendously in the long run.
