In newly released analytics, Spotify highlights how your old tracks can help accelerate your growth. Here is everything you need to know:

The Statistics

  1. Spotify defines your Catalogue as tracks 18 months or older
  2. 33% of Spotify Top 200 tracks were over 18 months old in 2022, compared to just 13% in 2020
  3. 88% of merch buyers from Spotify's e-commerce integrations listened to an artists catalogue, vs just 66% that listened to their most recent track

Use this to your advantage

  1. Make sure to keep old releases up.
  2. Create a playlist of all your music and link it on your social media and put it up on your Spotify profile. This will increase plays per listener vs linking to a single, and increase the chance of them adding one of your tracks to playlist.
  3. Don't treat this advice as if it's Spotify exclusive, most music insights are indicative of user activity on all platforms.
